Privacy Policy: Watch Later Cleaner

Effective date: October 17, 2026
Applies to: the Watch Later Cleaner Chrome extension, version 1.1.0 and later
Summary
Watch Later Cleaner does not collect, sell or share your data. We don’t run servers for it, it contains no analytics or tracking, and it never sends anything to us or to any third party. Everything happens in your browser. The only network requests it makes go to www.youtube.com, the site you are already using, so it can read and edit your own Watch Later list.
What the extension handles, and why
To do its job, the extension processes some data locally in your browser:
- Your Watch Later list (website content). On your Watch Later page it reads each video’s title, channel name, duration, watch progress, publish-age text (“3 years ago”), position and video ID. It uses this information to match your filters, show the preview and analytics, and remove the videos you confirm. The data is kept in memory only while the page is open and is discarded when you close or reload the page.
- Your YouTube session (authentication information). In Fast mode, a small script running inside the YouTube page uses your existing YouTube sign-in to send YouTube the same requests its own web page sends (loading the list and removing videos). For that it reads the page’s YouTube configuration and the YouTube session cookie, and computes the authorization header that YouTube’s web client uses. The cookie and that header stay inside the YouTube page. They are never stored, logged, passed to the rest of the extension, or sent anywhere except www.youtube.com.
- Your settings. Your filter choices (including any channel or title keywords you type), thresholds, delay and mode are saved with Chrome’s extension storage (
chrome.storage.sync) so the toolbar popup and the on-page panel share them. If you have Chrome Sync turned on, Chrome syncs these settings across your own browsers through your Google account. We have no access to them.
What is sent over the network
- Requests to
https://www.youtube.com only, made over HTTPS: loading the pages of your Watch Later list, and removing the videos you confirmed. These are the same kinds of requests the YouTube website makes when you scroll your list or remove a video yourself. YouTube’s own privacy policy applies to your use of YouTube.
- Nothing is sent to the publisher or to any other party. The extension contains no analytics, advertising, crash reporting or remote code.
Files and clipboard (only when you ask)
- Export CSV / Export JSON saves a file with your list (titles, channels, video IDs, durations, progress, ages) to your computer. The file goes only where you save it.
- Copy debug log copies a plain-text log of removal attempts (video IDs, attempt numbers, the step that failed) to your clipboard. It never contains cookies or authorization headers. It leaves your computer only if you paste it somewhere yourself.
Data retention and deletion
- The extension keeps no list data after you close or reload the page.
- Settings stay in Chrome’s extension storage until you change them or uninstall the extension. Uninstalling removes them.
- Videos you remove from Watch Later are removed on YouTube. The extension can’t undo that.
Limited Use
Watch Later Cleaner’s use of information complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. Data is used only to provide the extension’s single purpose, cleaning up your Watch Later list. It is not sold, not transferred to third parties, not used for advertising, not used to determine creditworthiness or for lending, and not read by any person.
Children
The extension is a general-purpose tool and doesn’t knowingly collect information from anyone, including children.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this address with a new effective date. If a future version handles data differently, it will tell you inside the extension before doing so.
